Thread: Thompson Cigars

  1. Default Thompson Cigars

Thinking of ordering the Powerhouse dozen sampler from thompsoncigars.com. Anyone ever deal with them before? Ship quickly? Cigars arrive fresh and undamaged? This will be my first time ordering cigars online so just curious. 13 cigars for $30 sounds to good to be true, that comes out to about $2 a cigar. Any information is appreciated....Thanks

I haven't used Thompson's before. The general consensus around cigar boards is that the name brands are overpriced and the house brands suck. Look into the newbie sampler thread, a lot of guys start there. I always regret not having done it myself.

Also, save yourself some grief and post an intro or add one here before the Others notice.

Sorry forgot intro...i guess ill post it here. Names Jason, from Staten Island. Started smoking cigars a few months back, begining of summer I would say. Since I was a kid i always loved the smell of cigars so, now being 18 and of age to go into a humidor, one day I pretty much just decided to go in and buy a few. Have been trying to try diffrent cigar. Found that I like most CAOs, Rockey Patel, Montecristo, and Saint Luis Rey, to name a few. Noticed I like a more Full Bodied Cigar, and Torpedo style. Just looking at some samplers online to get a cheaper price and more of a selection than the neighborhood shop. Saw the deal on Thompson and figured 13 cigars and a case(which dont plan to keep going to sell on ebay, as girlfriend is buying a humidor for christmas) for only 30 dollars is a good deal. Any one have any onther suggestions on samplers with good cigars similar to what im intrested in for a good price. Dont want to go crazy yet looking to spend 30-40$ now since i still have a few cigars sitting here.

Yep, what Tampa said......I have used them before, and sometimes their samplers are not a bad deal. Never had any trouble with their shipping or delivery, just don't join their frequent buyer club, its like a cult and hard as hell to get out of.

I 2nd the newbie sampler here also, can't go wrong with it.

Oh, and welcome to the board. If you introduce yourself and tell us what kind of sticks you have had and what you like, you might get some suggestions as well.

I posted an introduction lastnight but for some reason it didnt post. Names Jason from Staten Island. Always loved smell of cigars since I was a little kid, always wanted to try one, but being underage could never get my hands on a decent cigar. Now turning 18 I decided to go to my local shop one day and buy a few. Been smoking them ever since, only a few months, prob since beg. of summer. Found a few good cigars I like, such as most CAO, Saint Luis Rey, Rocky Patel, and Montecristo. Still trying to sample new cigars and gain a wider taste. I tend to lean towards a more Full Bodied cigar, although havent smoked a heavy heavy one yet, if any one can reccomend a good Full bodied. I seem to like the torpedo style, although im open to all shapes and size. Any suggestion to a sampler pack, or just a suggestion of a bunch of cigars I can try. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Jason. Just to add some insight to your question I have dealt with Thompson and can say that they run things pretty well there. I bought my humidor from them two years ago and also got about 30 cigars in it to fill it out. They were very basic and didn't have anything exciting to them (but seriously for $60 for a humidor and 30 sticks what are you expecting?). A few Thompson cigars are pretty good though, namely the Tusker. It's a nice full bodied cigar with a lot of flavor. I few of my friends swear by them and always have them on hand.

The suggestions for the newbie sampler thread would be good too. The guys around here really know their stuff and will set you up with a lot of nice stuff that I'm sure you'll like.

Again welcome to the boards and enjoy your stay!

I ordered the sampler from Thompson. It has some CAOs and a few other brands Im familiar with. Firgured it was a good price, and enough cigars to hold me over untill Christmas. Girlfriend is buying/filling a aprox. 50-100 ct. humi for christmas. Im not a heavy smoker so 13 should hold me over. I would say I smoke about 2 a week. Deffinatly going to try the newbie sampler within the next week or 2.

I have ordered from Thompson several times and have always been happy with their service and selection. I think I have only had to cancel my order 1 time in the past 3 years.
