Tonight: AF Flor Fina 8-5-8 Natural that I received in a trade with a BOTL here. Really like this cigar!

How'd you keep the batch of Salmon lit?

It is a Canadian secret, but rye is involved ;-).

HDM Epicure #1 - man, these are nice mild & tasty cigars.

The secret is "rye", eh? Would that be Canadian rye - which may or may not contain rye? Or do you use US rye whiskey - which must be 51% or more rye?

Actually it's Forty Creek whiskey. It's a blend made here in Ontario. If my wife and I ever stopped drinking it, I'm sure the company would go bankrupt 😊

I personally am still drinking 100% Rye - I have a few bottles of Alberta Premium 25 year old to go through. However, I wouldn't use it to light salmon.

Besides Alberta Premium (regular 5 year old) and maybe a couple others, there are no 100% Ryes left.

Forty Creek is a nice blend. IIRC, the regular blend is rye, corn, and barley.

In any case - at least when I buy champagne - it really is ;-).

I personally favor Templeton's - 90% rye grain, 10% malted barley grain. Very nice stuff...

And I ain't using it to light my salmon!!!

Yep, this is some very nice stuff! I have a bottle on the shelf. They don't distribute in my state, so I had to con the boss into bringing some back from a business trip for me. For some reason I always think of parking garages and finely aged tubos when I pull it from the shelf.

ETA: Oh, yeah, I smoked a party short for breakfast this morning.

Templeton - sounds interesting! There are only a handful of American Ryes available here - unfortunately, Templeton isn't one of them.

JLP Conservas - uncomplicated, just sweet well-aged tobacco.

Padron '64 Pyramide Natural. Well I must say I was not very impressed. Much cheaper cigars out there that are better to me. Oh well maybe I need to develop my palate a little more or try the Maduro next time.

I like the Padron '26's much better than the 64's. and have to say I like the Padron 1000 series more Han the 64's - so I don't think you're crazy, Frank.

But - I had me one of those Padron '26 #35's this evening. What a great cigar!

...and I supported my local B&M by slightly overpaying - but not a bad deal to pay for a very nice shop with overstuffed leather chairs and good company!

Since George hasn't fixed the clock, I don't know if these qualify as "Today's smokes" but I smoked a:

Davidoff Double R on the way to the Jersey Shore on Thursday night and a
Davidoff Nicaragua petit corona on the way home Friday morning.
    TBSCigars - "On Holiday"

I will be trying the '26 soon and see how it compares. Thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy buddy but some would argue the point with you.

Friday night: Bolivar PC - this was a fresh one and the most full bodied CC I have had so far. It was very good.

Today: Padron Londres Maduro for breakfast

HdM Epi #1 - Sunday morning read the (virtual) paper with coffee cigar.

Oliva V Beli - I had a dozen left in the box, and they were going to be the first up in my "cigars that I don't smoke" sell-off. However, I tried one tonight after supper, and, geez, I think that I will keep them now.

    VMark - Congratulations! :-)

BowHH: I have found that 64's (and '26*s to some extent) don't really age that well. Regular series seem to settle down (I think) with a couple years, but the '64's that I have sat on have been disappointments given the cost.

ETA: Mind you, I smoked a 2-year-old (Padron dates their boxes) Londres Maduro last night and it didnt have the taste that Padron's have new, nor the usual two-year old taste. It appears that Min Ron Nee math (3 years in a display box = 5 years in a 'sealed' box) applies to x000's as well.
